Top: The quaint North Yorkshire Dales village of Settle, with numerous narrow streets and attractive yards. Originally an Anglian settlement, it was granted a market charter in 1248. The 17th Century shambles still stands in the market place, with shops in the basement, the ground floor and two floors of cottages above. The limestone rock of Castleberg towers to 300 feet above the town. Middle: Falcon Manor-- Settle (Falcon Manor pictures by Mary Settles) Bottom: Countryside of Settle. Raised area is the Bowling Green at Falcon Manor in Settle. |
